TabView TabView 1.14
Posted by Simone in TabView | Comments (0) | Trackbacks (0)
Here's a new version of TabView.

Guitar Setup panel - click to enlargeIt's now possible to see the details of the guitars defined in the tab using the new Guitar Setup panel: for every guitar you can see the description, the tuning and the capo to use (if any). You can also click on the string buttons to tune your guitar.

Also, MIDI playback has been improved to handle capo's and tuning offset just like PowerTabEditor does on Windows.

A little update for TabView has just been released.

MIDI playback has been improved for tabs having both low and hi melodies: now they should play in synch as intended.

A new version of TabView is now available.

Apple RemoteSince every new Mac comes with a remote control nowadays, TabView can now exploit it. Your Apple Remote can be used to control the MIDI playback, so that you can jam along the tab you're practicing on without having to sit within two inches from your keyboard and mouse. :-)

This version also drops support for Mac OS 10.2: according to Apple's official documentation, MIDI playback shouldn't have worked on it too. Anyway, with Leopard coming out this year, it might be time to start phasing out legacy support to focus on new features. The previous version of TabView is still available, for those who don't want to upgrade. The new minimum requirement is MacOS X 10.3.9 or later.

A minor update of TabView has been released:

  • Code cleanup: removed the workaround for an OS X 10.4 bug which prevented to correctly export tabs to MIDI files on Intel machines. OS X 10.4.9 includes the official fix from Apple. If you are affected by the bug, please update your system.

  • Rhythm slash: guitar in markers have been added.

TabView Mac OS X 10.4.9 update
Posted by Simone in TabView | Comments (0) | Trackbacks (0)
Mac OS X 10.4.9 has been released.

According to Apple engineers, it should fix a bug which caused TabView (or any other application using the Audio Toolbox API) to generate broken MIDI files on Intel machines. Since version 1.8, TabView includes a workaround for this problem, thus working correctly anyway.

I'll test the update in the next days to verify whether the problem has been indeed solved or not. If so, the workaround will be removed from the next release of TabView (the less the dead code to maintain, the cleaner the application design!) and OS X 10.4.9 will become the minimum requirement on Intel machines, at least as far as MIDI export is concerned.
