Wiz Solitaire (for Mac OS X) 1.23

Wiz Solitaire 1.23 is now available.

A couple of user suggestions were implemented, along with some fixes:

  • Changed the default background to use a gradient fill instead of being solid white, in order to be more comfortable to the eyes.
  • Cards can optionally cast a shadow (Mac OS X 10.3 or later required – shadows appearance may vary according to the hardware).
  • Added an image for empty cells.
  • Trefoil: sometimes a game would start without dealing all the aces. Fixed.
  • La Belle Lucie, Trefoil: fixed undo of merci moves.

Mac OS X 10.4.9 update

Mac OS X 10.4.9 has been released.

According to Apple engineers, it should fix a bug which caused TabView (or any other application using the Audio Toolbox API) to generate broken MIDI files on Intel machines. Since version 1.8, TabView includes a workaround for this problem, thus working correctly anyway.

I’ll test the update in the next days to verify whether the problem has been indeed solved or not. If so, the workaround will be removed from the next release of TabView (the less the dead code to maintain, the cleaner the application design!) and OS X 10.4.9 will become the minimum requirement on Intel machines, at least as far as MIDI export is concerned.

Site downtime

Due to an unexpected chain of problems at our hoster, the site has been a bit unreliable in the past days.

No mail should have been lost: if you’re still waiting for an answer though, please contact us again.

We truly hope that all the issues are (or will be soon) solved for good.

Planned site outage

Due to maintenance operations in the data center that hosts this server, the site will be probably offline for some hours during February 25th.

The downtime should start around 11:15PM PST and everything should be hopefully back online at most at 4AM PST.

UPDATE: the maintenance took longer than expected, but now everything seems back to normal.
