TabView 4.0

TabView 4.0 has been released on the Mac App Store.

The main change in this release is a brand new sampled-instrument audio engine:

Playback

  • New sound engine using real instrument samples (SoundFont), replacing the old MIDI synth.

Live control

  • Mute/unmute tracks during playback — no restart needed.
  • Switch the visible score while playing; the cursor follows.

Export

  • Render your tabs to WAV or AAC audio, alongside MIDI.

Import

  • More accurate Guitar Pro (GP4-5) import

Soundwaves 2.21

Soundwaves 2.21 has been released on the App Store and Mac App Store.

This version tries to play back M4A files which have not been optimized for streaming, by downloading them entirely. If you encode your own tracks, though, you really should make sure that they are optimized for streaming. Further reading on the subject for the more technically inclined 🙂

Tablatures 2.42

Tablatures 2.42 is available on the Mac App Store.

MIDI playback can now be controlled using the media keys on your keyboard (play/pause and rewind) or the “Now Playing” system menu.

“Rewind” will either stop playback, if it’s currently paused, or it will skip back to the starting point.

Also, there’s a new option to replace the vertical “TAB” text at the beginning of tabs with the guitar tuning.
