Soundwaves 2.21

Soundwaves 2.21 has been released on the App Store and Mac App Store.

This version tries to play back M4A files which have not been optimized for streaming, by downloading them entirely. If you encode your own tracks, though, you really should make sure that they are optimized for streaming. Further reading on the subject for the more technically inclined 🙂

Soundwaves 2.16

Soundwaves 2.16 has been released on the App Store and Mac App Store.

This version improves the startup time and fixes a problem that prevented it from working with servers that don’t support token authentication (which is a more secure way of passing credentials to the servers, quite important if you’re not using https), such as the Music app for NextCloud/OwnCloud.

Soundwaves 2.15

Soundwaves 2.15 has been released on the App Store and Mac App Store.

There’s a new option in the server configuration: when you browse your collection, you can decide whether to show tracks always in the order returned by the server or to sort them alphabetically when a folder contains more than one album.

On iOS, CarPlay support has been modernized for iOS 14+. Also, Internet radio stations are now available in CarPlay too.

On macOS, when you close Soundwaves’ window, it won’t quit: it’ll keep stay hidden and keep on playing. Use Cmd Q to quit.
